Yakusugi / Shou Sugi Ban

Yakisugi or Shou Sugi Ban is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation. Yaki means to heat with fire, and sugi is cypress. It is also referred to in the West as burnt timber cladding
I wanted to create a wood style material. but instead of regular wooden boards I thought I would create Yakisugi as I have always been quite facinated with the shapes and forms that burned wooden boards have. I added a plain bar of wood between each for some breakup and colour difference.
